A New Era of Offensive Football

My name is Mike Cross, and this is the home of the Midwest Express Option Offense. This site will be where I share the insights, information, and thoughts I've amassed on the offensive side of football throughout my career. For those of you whom I have not met yet, here is a brief introduction.

When it comes to coaching, experience is paramount. Few coaches possess the depth and breadth of experience that I bring to the table. With years of hands-on coaching at all levels, I possess an innate understanding of football principles, techniques, and schematics. From coaching at Otterbein University to stints in Ohio's Mid-State League and Indiana's MIC & WRC conferences, I'm no stranger to the intricacies of the game. What sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to professional development. Whether attending yearly clinics at Ohio State University, Glazier Clinics, or various other professional development opportunities, I continually seek ways to improve my coaching methods and stay at the pinnacle of the game. Few coaches possess the combination of experience and education that I offer. With Bachelor's degrees in Sports Management & Business and a Master's in Business Administration, I'm uniquely positioned to strike the perfect balance between football knowledge, team culture, and organizational leadership.

With all that in mind, my passion lies in offensive football strategy. I've spent the better part of my ten seasons coaching the offensive side of the game. During this time, I've assimilated and synthesized the offenses I've personally coached and spent time learning about to create what I call the Midwest Express. This offense embodies the core principles of a successful offensive system, combining tradition with innovation to create a versatile and adaptable approach.

The Midwest Express is the culmination of countless hours spent studying film, analyzing game plans, and refining techniques to develop a system that maximizes the strengths of every player on the field.

At its core, the Midwest Express Option Offense is designed to be adaptable, versatile, and explosive. It merges elements of the spread offense, the triple option, and run-pass options (RPOs) to keep defenses off balance and create mismatches all over the field. With a focus on player development, effective play calling, and strategic decision-making, this offense has the potential to elevate any team to new heights.
